McConnell, McGrath Face Off In Kentucky Senate Debate

(Lexington, KY) - Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and former Marine fighter pilot and Democrat Amy McGrath are showing voters their differences on the issues.

McConnell and McGrath faced off in a televised debate on WKYT-TV, WAVE-TV and Gray Television stations Monday night held at the University of Kentucky. The debate came after more than a month of negotiations between the campaigns.

The candidates shared their views on topics such as the current Supreme Court hearings, the government's response to COVID-19, and the opioid crisis.

Both candidates avoided answering a question about whether Breonna Taylor had received justice, with McConnell saying bad cops need to go but showing support for law enforcement.

McGrath said she didn't condone rioting or looting, but believes a change is needed in policing. Neither supported defunding the police.
