LMPD To Make History As New Interim Chief Takes Over Thursday

(Louisville, KY) - For the first time in LMPD history, a woman will serve as the department's chief.

Yvette Gentry will be sworn in Thursday as LMPD's interim chief.  Gentry has previous experience serving as LMPD's deputy chief.

Interim Chief Rob Schroeder is retiring after more than 20 years with the department to focus on his family, health and complete his doctorate.

He took over the department June 1st following the firing of former Chief Steve Conrad.

Mayor Fischer says that Schroeder rose to every challenge as interim chief, doing so with character, compassion and courage.
