Hospitals Will Now Send Coronavirus Data To White House Instead Of To CDC

US-HEALTH-VIRUS

The Trump administration issued a directive, telling hospitals to send coronavirus data to the White House instead of to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The decision was made to streamline the data collection and allow the government to review the data faster.

This will assist officials as they allocate supplies, such as personal protective equipment and drugs that can help treat COVID-19, to hospitals where they are needed the most.

Under the current system, there is a one-week lag in reporting data, and officials believe the new system will eliminate the delay.

"The new faster and complete data system is what our nation needs to defeat the coronavirus and the CDC, an operating division of HHS, will certainly participate in this streamlined all-of-government response, They will simply no longer control it," Michael Caputo, assistant secretary for public affairs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.
