LMPD Announces Policy Requiring Intervention During Excessive Force

(Louisville, KY) - Mayor Greg Fischer is announcing an LMPD policy change.

Mayor Fischer and Acting chief Rob Schroeder said Thursday that officers are expected to step in if they see another officer acting inappropriately, or using excessive force.

Schroeder said everyone in law enforcement was shocked when they saw the video of George Floyd's death while in the custody of Minneapolis police. Schroeder called the policy change "simply the right thing to do."
