Kentucky Commission To Remove Jefferson Davis Statue From Capitol Rotunda

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A Kentucky commission has voted to remove a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis from the state’s capitol rotunda.

The Historic Properties Advisory Commission voted 11-1 to relocate the state to the Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site in Todd County.

The only no vote was from Brandon Wilson, a former Governor Bevin appointee, who accused Governor Beshear of politicizing the issue.

Following the vote, Governor Beshear released a statement, saying “today is a move toward showing that everybody is welcome in this building.”
