(Lexington, KY) - A new clinical trial at the University of Kentucky is focusing on COVID-19 antibodies and virus immunity.
Researchers say results from the study will help in the fight against COVID-19.
Professor of Immunology Jerry Woodward says having antibodies doesn't necessarily mean someone is immune to the virus. Experts are still studying what antibody level might provide immunity and how long that immunity might last.
Woodward says it will be about five or six months until researchers have a clear picture of the level of antibodies needed to provide immunity.
