(Georgetown, KY) - A partially blind horse that competed in the 2017 Kentucky Derby is retiring.
Patch retired at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement facility Monday.
The horse became a fan favorite in the 2017 Derby when it was revealed he had lost his left eye as a two-year-old but still made it to the Churchill Downs gate.
Patch's owner donated him following his three-season racing career. His last race was the Birdstone Stakes at Saratoga in August.
