Senate Majority Leader McConnell: Impasse On Impeachment Next Steps

US-POLITICS-REPUBLICANS

(Washington, DC) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate is at an "impasse" on what the next steps in the impeachment process will be.

Speaking on the Senate floor, the Kentucky Republican said he had a "cordial conversation" with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on possible paths forward, but criticized the New York Democrat for breaking precedent set before the Clinton impeachment trial.

McConnell also called the fact that the House Democrats are holding off on sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate an "unusual spectacle" that doesn't reflect well on the House.
