(Frankfort, KY) - The new governor of Kentucky wants more than 100,000 former felons to participate in elections.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced he'll sign an executive order Thursday to restore voting rights to "men and women who have done wrong in the past but are doing right now."
He said during his inaugural address that taking this step declares that "everyone in Kentucky counts."
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Kentucky and Iowa are the only states that don't allow anyone convicted of a felony the right to cast a ballot.
