Kentucky Lottery Bring Horse Racing To The Corner Store

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A new lottery game is bringing horse racing to the corner gas station.

The Kentucky Lottery is testing the game "Win Place Show" at 45 retailers across the state for 90 days, allowing players to buy quick-pick tickets for races run at 21 tracks across the country.

The game, developed by Kentucky-based EquiLottery Games, selects one race a day from one of the tracks and then pays out based on the number of players rather than the on-track odds.

The Kentucky Lottery says Keeneland will be featured once the track begins its Spring Meet later this week.

Churchill Downs is not one of the participating tracks but lottery officials hope the increased interest in horse racing around Derby time will help boost sales of the game.
