(Louisville, KY) - Louisville's 2019 SummerWorks program is getting underway.
Mayor Greg Fischer kicked off the program Tuesday with an event at the Shawnee Boys and Girls Club.
The SummerWorks program placed more than 1,000 teens and young adults in jobs last year.
Fischer said many of those who have participated eventually landed full-time jobs at GE Appliances, Humana, Kentucky Kingdom, Thorntons, UPS and other companies.
