LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- There's light at the end of the tunnel for the long-delayed VA hospital project.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he spoke with President Trump last week and learned Trump will allocate $400 million for the new Robley Rex VA Medical Center.
That allocation along with previous appropriations of $450 million mean the project first announced in 2006 is now fully funded.
McConnell says while he understands there is still some litigation surrounding the project, he expects ground to be broken sometime in 2020.
As for where the ground will be broken, McConnell says he's not endorsing any specific location for the facility.
