(Frankfort, KY) - A state Senator wants to give JCPS Superintendent Dr. Marty Polio more power to improve the district.
Julie Raque Adams says the state's largest school district is restricted by being in a consolidated government.
The bill she has introduced would allow the superintendent to approve contracts up to $50,000 without board approval, and the superintendent would have the power to hire principals without the input of school-based decision making councils.
The superintendent would also be able to revise the senior executive tenure system, allowing for changes on the executive staff to be made more easily.
