KY House Passes "Trigger Law" Bill to Ban Abortion

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Lawmakers in the Kentucky House have passed a bill that would ban most abortions in the state if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.

It would take effect if the court's decision is overturned or the Constitution is amended to restore states' authority to prohibit abortion.

Four other states have similar laws.

The measure -- which now goes to the Senate -- would ban abortions in Kentucky, except when it's necessary to save the mother's life.
