LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A federal indictment is revealing new details about an armored truck driver in Louisville who is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A federal grand jury has indicted Mark Espinosa with five charges including theft, bank robbery and money laundering.
The indictment alleges Espinosa stole more than $900,000 from his armored truck in December. It included money from PNC Bank.
Authorities say Espinosa then drove to Pennsylvania, where he used the name Sam Smith to buy a new Chevy Malibu for $21,000, using stolen money. He then drove to Connecticut and deposited more than $3,000 into a bank account.
Espinosa was captured last week in Connecticut. He was found with $850,000 in cash.
If convicted, Espinosa faces up to 10 years in prison on each of the theft and robbery charges and up to 20 years for money laundering.
