Protests Planned At Covington Catholic High School

UPDATE: Covington Catholic is closed Tuesday to "ensure safety of (their) students, faculty and staff."

(Covington, KY) - Protests are planned today at Covington Catholic High School in northern Kentucky.

The American Indian Movement Chapters of Indiana and Kentucky reportedly plan to convene outside the school around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A representative from the Native American group said the protests will be peaceful.

Students from Covington were thrown into the national spotlight over the weekend when video emerged of one student wearing a Make America Great Again hat facing off with Native American activist Nathan Phillips.

The video footage of the incident has gone viral and backlash has ensued as many thought the students were mocking the Native American veteran who was chanting and beating a drum.
