Mayor Fischer Calls For New Revenue During State Of City Address

(Louisville, TN) - Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer is asking state lawmakers to approve new sources of revenue for the city.

During his 2019 State of the City address Thursday at the Muhammad Ali Center downtown, Fischer said without new money many city programs could face large budget cuts.

Fischer blamed the potential cuts on public pension costs that are expected to grow by $10 million per year for the next five years.

The Ali Center was chosen as the site for this year's address due to what would have been the former champ's 77th birthday.
