Indiana Bill Proposes Teacher Minimum Wage Be Set At $50K

(Indianapolis, IN) - A new Indiana House proposal would raise teacher pay to $50,000 a year at minimum.

The suggested legislation comes after Governor Holcomb and conservative lawmakers have agreed that educators' salaries need to increase.

National Education Association data shows teachers in the Hoosier state start with an average salary of just over $35,000.

If passed, the bill would also eliminate textbook fees, instead requiring public schools to provide materials for free to parents.
