School Safety Bill Introduced in Senate

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- School safety will be a priority of the Kentucky legislature this session.

Republican Senator Max Wise of Campbellsville has introduced Senate Bill 1 -- the School Safety and Resiliency Act.

The legislation was written with the help of a working group formed in the wake of last year's deadly shooting at Marshall County High School.

The group got input from from school officials, law enforcement officers, mental health professionals and families on how to protect students and teachers.

The bill does not call for arming teachers in the classroom.
