JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A man and dog are dead after an early Friday morning fire in Jeffersonville.
The call came in just after 5:00 a.m. from a house in the 500 block of Allison Lane. Fire crews arrived and found smoke coming out of the front of the house and made entry, finding 83 year old Reynolds Deaton in a bedroom.
Deaton was pulled out of the home but died at the scene.
Firefighters also found a dog in the home that had died.
Investigators say the fire appears to have started in the basement but the exact cause remains under investigation.
