Senator Paul Not Committed To Supporting Barr For AG

Rand Paul

(Lexington, KY) - Senator Rand Paul is not committed to supporting William Barr for Attorney General.

On NBC's Meet The Press, the Kentucky Republican says he has some concerns about the man President Trump is expected to nominate for the position.

Among his concerns, Paul noted Barr's support for the Patriot Act, the post 9/11 law that expanded surveillance and detention powers of the executive branch.

Opposition from Democrats over Trump's choice of Barr is already growing because of his possible oversight over the special counsel investigation.

The president is expected to officially nominate Barr on Friday, after firing Jeff Sessions the day after Election Day.
