Officials: Flooding Victim Gave Wrong Address to Dispatchers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- City officials say a taxi driver who drowned in flash flooding earlier this month gave dispatchers the wrong address.

Abdinasir Siyat drove his car into a flooded viaduct at 13th and Oak Streets during heavy rains on September 8th.

Siyat told 911 dispatchers he was at Dixie and Oak Streets -- five blocks from his actual location.   When a fire rescue team found the taxi, it was fully submerged.   They were unable to access the car and left the scene.

Siyat was found dead after the floodwaters had receded.

Metro Public Services Chief Doug Hamilton says there was no miscommunication between Siyat and dispatchers.
