Coroner Identifies Remains Found in Shelby County

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. - Bones found in Shelby County, Kentucky more than a year ago have been identified as a missing man from Colorado.

Two dogs discovered a human skull in a rural area of Waddy in February 2017.  Investigators searched the area and discovered more remains.

Shelby County Coroner Jeff Ivers says the remains are those of Timothy Stites, who was 29 when he disappeared.

Ivers says his cause of death has not been determined, and there is no evidence of any trauma.

His family says Stites was in the construction business. They filed a missing persons report for him in 2016.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office will now conduct a death investigation to figure out what happened to him.
