U Of L Football Loses Defender To "Significant" Wrist Injury

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- U of L football loses its top defensive player in the wake of the Alabama game.

Junior defensive end Jonathan Greenard left Saturday's loss to Alabama in Orlando during the first quarter with a wrist injury. Now after further examination, head coach Bobby Petrino says Greenard has suffered a ligament injury in his wrist that he expects will sideline him for "a while." Petrino declined to estimate how long Greenard could be out of the mix.

Greenard led the Cardinals last season with 15.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He was named as one of four team captains prior to the start of the 2018 season.
