State Wants JCPS To Stop Leaking Negotiation Documents

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- JCPS taking some heat from state education officials after leaking confidential documents to the media.

Dr. Wayne Lewis' is blasting JCPS after a report in the Courier Journal, which said the state was backing down in their takeover negotiations with the district. Lewis said that's a mischaracterization. He said it's unfortunate the district released the content of what they said is confidential. The statement goes on to say, "With the safety of students in JCPS at stake, we have not and will not back down from the position that the department must play in a role in the management of the district." JCPS and the Kentucky Department of Education are currently in the middle of negotiations to avoid a full state takeover following a report that showed abuse, neglect and mismanagement within the district.
