Doctors Rule Alleged Southern Indiana Killer Can Stand Trial

Clark County, IN --  A state psychiatrist has determined that an Indiana man accused of eating parts of his ex-girlfriend's dead body is competent to stand trial.

Joseph Oberhansley had been in the Logansport State Hospital since the 2014 killing of Tammy Jo Blanton.  He's accused of sexually assaulting her and stabbing her to death.  Police say Oberhansley appeared to have sawed open Blanton's head and fried a portion of her brain before eating it.

His next hearing is set for September 21st. Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull wants a trail date within the next six months.
