JCPS Board To Consider Replacing School Resource Officers

(Louisville, KY) - The Jefferson County Board of Education will consider a plan Tuesday that would eliminate school resource officers.

The SROs would be replaced by officers hired by the district starting with the 2019-2020 school year.

Nearly 30 Jefferson County Public Schools currently have officers who are employed by outside law enforcement agencies.

The plan calls for JCPS to place a full-time officer at each high school and middle school with each of those officers responsible for 2-to-3 elementary schools in the area.
