Ball State Keeps Schnatter Name On Building

MUNCIE, IND - Ball State University is standing by Papa John Schnatter after he admitted using a racial slur during a media training session.

The Ball State Board of Trustees released a letter Friday, saying it won't remove the Papa John’s founder’s name from a building on the Muncie, Indiana campus.  Schnatter is an alumnus of Ball State.

The letter from Board of Trustees chair Rick Hall says Schnatter "cares deeply about creating an environment in which all enterprising individuals have the opportunity to succeed.”

In the letter, Hall said that the board realizes some will disagree with its position, but hopes the university can “advance a sense of community that is so essential to the creation of a stronger Indiana and a healthier society.”
