LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kentucky Center officials are hoping they can reopen the doors by the end of the month following a fire in the building.
The fire broke out in the ceiling and roof Wednesday afternoon. Investigators blame it on sparks from a metal grinder being used by a contractor doing repairs.
Most of the damage is from water that soaked the lobby. Some water also got into the theaters.
Much of the $18 million worth of artwork in the center escaped damage.
Kentucky Center President Kim Baker says she's "optimistic" the center will re-open by June 26th for the start of a PNC Broadway show.
