VERSAILLES, Ky. -- Vice President Pence used a Kentucky business as a backdrop to promote the Republican tax overhaul, which is a key issue in this year's midterm elections.
Pence spoke at More Than a Bakery, a snack food manufacturer in Versailles. He noted that more than four million Americans have already received a raise or bonus because of tax cuts.
Central Kentucky is an area with a hotly contested congressional race. Republican Representative Andy Barr has drawn several Democratic challengers, including Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.
The Kentucky Democratic Party issued a statement, saying "If the tax plan was actually helping people, they wouldn't have to spend so much money on selling it to the American people."
