EU Puts Bourbon on Potential Tariff List

FRANKFORT, Ky  --  A report out of Germany says the E-U is making a list of products, including bourbon, that might be the subject of a stiff tariff should the U-S place a tariff on European goods.  The Trump administration is considering a tariff or quota on foreign-made metals, including European aluminum and steel.

In response, the E-U is putting together a list of U-S products for a counter-tariff that includes Kentucky bourbon, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and orange juice.  Kentucky Distillers Association Executive Director Eric Gregory says right now this is "saber rattling" between the U-S and E-U and they are in touch with Senate Majority Leader McConnell on the issue.

The E-U is targeting bourbon and Harley-Davidson because those are home businesses to Sen. Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
