LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Kentucky basketball All-American is now leading the charge to bring the NBA to Louisville.
Dan Issel has been named the president of the Louisville Basketball Investment and Support Group LLC and will lead the latest effort to lure an NBA expansion team to the city.
Issel says they've already put together a group of over 20 investors contributing a combined $750,000 and have other investors interested in getting on board.
He says he's made contact with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver who told him the league was flattered that Louisville is interested in a team but the league currently has no timetable for an expansion.
Issel says they want to have a majority owner and an idea on a team name and home arena for a potential franchise in the next 18 to 24 months.
