UNDATED -- Bourbon is taking names and kicking....sales.
The Distilled Spirits Council reports American whiskey volume is up 6.4% from a year ago with revenues up 8.1% to $3.4 billion.
Overall supplier sales rose four percent, about $1 billion, to a total of $26.2 billion.
Industry experts say the rise in sales is being driven by demand for premium bourbons found in Kentucky.
Also driving the growth in sales are exports with sales of American whiskey up 45% in the United Kingdom, 22% in Germany, and 186 % in Brazil.
