UNDATED -- Bourbon is taking names and kicking....sales. The Distilled Spirits Council reports American whiskey volume is up 6.4% from a year ago with revenues up 8.1% to $3.4 billion. Overall supplier sales rose four percent, about $1 billion, to a total of $26.2 billion.
Kentucky Distillers Association President Eric Gregory believes the rise in sales is driven by demand for premium bourbons found in Kentucky. He calls it great news for all of Kentucky. Also driving the growth in sales are exports with sales of American whiskey up 45% in the United Kingdom, 22% in Germany, and 186 % in Brazil.
