LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- An armed robbery at a near downtown business ends with the suspect shot by police.
LMPD was dispatched to the Family Dollar store at 13th and Broadway Wednesday night on the report of an armed robbery and formed a perimeter around the business.
When officers were securing the back of the building, a man came out with a hand gun and refused to drop it. LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says that’s when one officer fired at the man, hitting him in the leg. The man was taken to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The LMPD Public Integrity Unit is handling the investigation.
