LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Papa John says the NFL national anthem controversy is hurting pizza sales.
Papa John's International founder John Schnatter told investors on a conference call the league "not resolving the current debacle" has hurt the company.
The Louisville-based pizza chain has been the league's official pizza sponsor since 2010 and is among a list of sponsors facing boycotts from fans as a response to players kneeling during the national anthem
Schnatter also took a shot at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell saying his handling of the situation is "an example of poor leadership."
The chain cut its revenue and profit forecasts for the year after reporting third quarter same-store estimates missed their target numbers.
