Trump: Bipartisan Obamacare Bill Is A Short Term Deal

President Trump says the bipartisan deal announced by Senator Lamar Alexander and Patty Murray to fund Obamacare subsidies is a short-term solution.  At the White House, the President said the deal by Tennessee Republican Alexander and Washington Democrat Murray would be a one- to two-year answer to Obamacare's shortfalls. He said that ultimately, he still hopes to provide block-grant funds to states by passing the Republican Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill.

The bipartisan deal on a healthcare fix was announced on Tuesday. Tennessee Republican Lamar Alexander and Washington state Democrat Patty Murray have been working on a short-term fix involving healthcare subsidies. The deal would continue funding for Obamacare’s cost-sharing program for two more years. It would also allow states more flexibility to use existing Obamacare waivers to approve insurance plans that have a "comparable affordability" with current Obamacare plans. Murray said some final details are being ironed out in talks with Alexander.
