EPA Chief: "The War on Coal is Over"

HAZARD, Ky. -- The head of the Environmental Protection Agency declares "the war on coal is over."

Speaking in Hazard, Kentucky, EPA Administrator Scott Pruit said the Trump administration will end the Obama-era clean power plan aimed at reducing global warming.

The plan is aimed to restrict greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants.  The EPA claims the rule exceeded federal law by setting emissions standards that power plants could not reasonably meet.

The Sierra Club says the Trump administration's plan will face a legal battle.
