LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A hall of fame basketball coach and his boss have been fired from the University of Louisville.
Rick Pitino and athletics director Tom Jurich were placed on leave -- effectively fired -- in the wake of a federal bribery investigation.
University Interim President Greg Postel calls it a "dark day." He says a search will begin immediately for an interim coach and AD.
Also, one UofL basketball player is suspended from the team.
Pitino was not mentioned in the federal indictment that resulted in the arrests of 10 people across the country. However, UofL confirmed the school is involved in the investigation.
