LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Decision day has arrived for Dan Johnson.
The embattled Metro Councilman was given until August 1 to resign or face removal proceedings after the majority caucus passed a resolution in a special meeting.
Democratic Caucus spokesman Tony Hyatt says there is no set hour for the deadline and expects the next steps to start sometime August 2.
He says the removal process would start with five members of the council filing a charging document with President David Yates who would then beginning setting up the lengthy legal process.
Johnson has said numerous times he does not plan to step down from the council, calling the threat of removal hearings a "malicious act" against him.
