Bardstown Mayor is Forced Out of Office

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- The Mayor of Bardstown is out of a job.

The Bardstown City Council found Mayor John Royalty guilty of misconduct and voted unanimously to remove him from office.

Royalty was accused of official misconduct, which included lying to gain access to government issued ipads and looking at council member's emails on those devices.

The council was in executive session for hours after hearing two days worth of testimony on the case.

A special session will be held next Tuesday to appoint Royalty's replacement.
