Four Jail Inmates Treated for "Drug-Related Incident"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A series of possible drug overdoses in the Louisville jail.

Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton says four inmates were treated for a "drug-related incident" Monday afternoon.   They are in stable condition.

Bolton says they don't know what drug was taken by the inmates.

The incident happens as Bolton faces Metro Council questions about drugs getting into the jail and inmates claiming they were incarcerated too long.

Bolton told the council the jail is overcrowded and his staff is "overtaxed."   There were 2,300 inmates in the jail Monday.
