(Louisville, KY) -- A Latino social justice organization is calling on Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to improve protections for all immigrants in the city. Mijenete Louisville delivered petitions with about 2,500 signatures to his office Monday. The group wants the mayor to declare a sanctuary city and a change in Louisville ordinances to protect people who are not legal citizens. A coalition of immigration groups is concerned now because of immigration raids in some cities last week. Fischer's office says that the mayor will review the petitions and appreciates the citizens' feedback.
