LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The family of a man fatally shot by LMPD officers last August call for transparency in the investigation.
Standing in front of the apartment off Cane Run Road where Darnell Wicker was fatally shot six months ago, his family says the pain of what happened is compounded by the lack of answers. LMPD claims Wicker lunged at the officers with a weapon while the family says he was putting a pruning saw back in his tool bucket and lunged at no one.
LMPD released body camera footage of the incident, video attorneys for the family say proves he did not make a move at the officers.
The family says they last the last update they received on the investigation was in October with Commonwealth's Attorney Tom Wine. A spokesman for Wine's office confirms the meeting and says the investigation is still ongoing with no set completion date.
