Annual Street County Takes Place in Pre-Dawn Hours Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky  --  The forecast is for chilly temperatures and a chance for flurries as volunteers cover the county Thursday morning to take a census of the homeless.   The annual Street Count is set for Thursday morning from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. as 300 volunteers fan out across the county to count how many people are living on the street.

The number of people living on the streets in Jefferson County has dropped about 3000 people a year over the past three years to about 6000.

The count of the homeless is needed to help determine the amount of services and types of programs that are needed.
