(Santa Anita, CA) - Multiple reports say Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit has died.
The horse won this year's race at Churchill Downs, but reportedly died Monday at Santa Anita in southern California. The horse trained by Bob Baffert was caught up in a controversy following the race after it failed a drug test.
An attorney for Baffert said the positive test wasn't the result of an injection, but rather a topical ointment.
