Ten Years After VA Medical Facility Was Announced, Officials Break Ground

(Louisville, KY) - A Veterans Day groundbreaking is reason for local veterans to celebrate Louisville's new medical facility, dedicated to helping them. 

Thursday's event was more than a decade in the making after the first announcement of the new, modern medical center for local vets that is set to open in 2026.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Representative John Yarmuth, and Senator Mitch McConnell were just a few of the high-profile guests in attendance. 

Per the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the facility will also have a dedicated women's health clinic with four Patient Aligned Care Teams.
