Kids Count Report Card Shows Some Child Poverty Improvement in Kentucky

(Frankfort, KY) - The 2021 Kentucky Kids Count report card shows some improvement for child poverty rates in the Commonwealth. 

Over a five-year period between 2014 and 2019, the data indicates about five percent fewer children, are living below the federal poverty level.

There are also four percent fewer children living in low-income families and the graduation rate for high school students is two percent higher than five years ago, standing now at 90 percent. 

Student homelessness is down slightly and teen births are down eleven-percent over the past five years.
