Chief Shields: Fear Of Backlash Preventing Officers From Being Proactive

(Louisville, KY) - Fear of backlash is one of the reasons Louisville Metro Police officers are hesitant to be proactive when it comes to combating rising violence in the city. 

That's what Chief Erika Shields said during an interview with the Washington Post.

Chief Shields also talked about the Department of Justice's investigation of LMPD's policing practices. She said they didn't know it was coming and called the investigation a "gut punch."
