Ohio River Expected To Crest On Saturday

(Louisville, KY) - The Ohio River in Louisville is expected to crest this weekend after recent heavy rains.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Louisville on Tuesday after the city recorded about 3.5 inches on Sunday.

However, the rising level is due to rainfall from Eastern Kentucky flowing downstream after that region of the state got about six inches.

The river is expected to crest at about 29 feet on Saturday with some flooding already happening and more expected.

The rising Ohio River is causing the closure of some roads in Louisville.  As of Wednesday night, there were close to a dozen closures, including Witherspoon at Shelby Street, Frankfort Avenue at River Road and Katherine Station at Dixie Highway.

Other roads closed are Indian Hills at River Road, Witherspoon Street at Adams Street and Adams Street at Campbell Street.
